Stage 3: Check Ride
The 3.5 hour check ride is a mandatory on-road test for all learners.
Check Rides are a great opportunity to ask your instructor any questions and fill any knowledge gaps you feel you may have. There is no limit to the number of check rides you can do, however one must be completed at least one month prior to your License test.
This coaching will give you all the valuable tools and skills to help you pass the licence assessment.
It is highly recommended that you get as much practice as possible before coming in for the check ride. You can complete the check ride when you are ready (we recommend riding for a month or 2 to gain experience/confidence) after your learners (then you have to wait 1 calendar month before sitting the licence test) up to 14 months. Bear in mind that with the 1 month wait after that your learners does expire as you can’t extend/re-new and would have to start again from the beginning. You can attend as many check rides as you wish there is no limit!
You can use your own LAMS, road worthy, road registered, non-modified bike or us one of ours.
Enrolment and brief discussion on what type of riding you've been doing and feedback.
On-range activities to demonstrate you are competent to go on the road safely.
Approximately 50km on-road group ride covering what you have learned and been practicing on your learner's. Also covers the five most common crash types for novice riders in Victoria and how to manage and minimise risk.
Debrief back at the training centre where you will receive a checklist with a list of things to practice for the following month before undertaking the full licence course.
